Description

This course introduces students to the different areas of linguistics and their application in cultural and linguistic classrooms across K-12 levels. It focuses on integrating linguistics principles and oral language development in the bilingual classroom. The course covers essential linguistics theories and the foundational linguistics elements such as phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics that inform planning for teaching a second language. In addition, students will explore the relationship between language variation, change, society, and culture. (3 Credits)
